Michelle and Brian at Five Pine Resort in Sisters, Oregon
A Five Pines Lodge wedding in winter
Michelle and Brian threw a warm and welcoming wedding on a cold and rainy winter day at Five Pines Lodge in Sisters, Oregon. This was the first wedding of the year when I was super busy with weddings. What a great year that was for me and my work as a wedding photographer. It marked one of the first weddings where I used the Profoto light extensively throughout the day and started putting it into the corner of the room for the reception activities.
Most of the time when I first show up at a wedding people usually get really nervous and self conscious about the big guy working and shooting with a big camera and a light popping in the corner someplace. Then after 15-20 minutes they start forgetting about me and I start making the pictures I love the most from the day. Then I can start asking them to do things maybe they wouldn’t normally do, like jumping on the bed in front of the dresses. Michelle was a champion with that crazy idea. We made one of my favorite bride with dresses pictures I’ve ever done.
Then for the post wedding portraits on the icy pond I had my trusty assistant Hannah Mavis hold the light behind the tree on the right. The red umbrella I used to keep handy for just these occasions really made the picture stand out. Plus the easy going nature of Michelle and Brian really helped make their wedding pictures stand out. I loved working with them at the fabulous Five Pines Lodge.
