A Country Western Wedding
A Cowboy Wedding in Rural Oregon
Bailey and Joe sent me an inquiry for both wedding photography and engagement portraits many years ago. I’ve never blogged about them because talking about wedding photography takes time and until now I didn’t have a ton of time to write all at once. Doing the pool monitor job at the Athletic Club of Bend creates the time and space for me to write about weddings, wedding photography, lighting, portraits, pet portraits, family portraits, etc.
We did our engagement portraits at Smith Rock and they brought a couple horses. Watching them interacting and working together I knew their wedding would be something special. So a few weeks before the ceremony I drove to the location to get ideas. They got married at a ranch somewhere between Madras and Prineville to the east of Highway 26. As a wedding photographer I have to say the ranch seemed built for pictures.
Bailey and Joe threw a most excellent wedding. Their friends and family brought joy and love to the day. I attempted to mostly be a fly on the wall but sometimes fail at that mission with my 6’5” size. Their wedding was magic and I had a great time both doing their candid pictures and their posed portraits and blending ambient and my light to the best possible effect.
I’m hoping their lives have ended up being as special as their wedding.
