Wedding Photography at Del Mar Villa in Dundee, Oregon

Erin and Nick hired me to do their engagement portraits last year and we had a fun time together in Shevlin Park getting them done. I enjoyed working with them.

When they called hoping I could make the drive from Bend to Dundee for their wedding the answer came easily: Yes! A thousand times yes!

They threw a formal wedding at the stunningly beautiful Del Mar Villa in Dundee, Oregon. It’s a fabulous manor wedged between a vineyard and the Willamette River in Dundee, Oregon. The end of the drive takes you down a dirt road in the vineyard. “Am I on the wrong road?” Thought me at the end of the three hour drive. “What a cool venue!” I thought upon first seeing it down a long driveway. There’s too many great locations to shoot for one wedding. The venue would make a great location for one of those styled shoots with models and time to work. I started off being a bit overwhelmed with the possibilities.

Seeing Erin and Nick getting ready one each on a floor quickly grounded my mind and I got to work. They showed their emotion really well for the cameras and made my work easy. I love when that happens. The Profoto made quick work of any lighting challenges and let me just watch and shoot.

My constant quest to understand what makes a great wedding like theirs has to include the bridal party. Right off the bat they helped, laughed, and completed the fun. I truly love working with enthusiastic, outgoing, and pleasant people. Erin and Nick’s bridal party fit the bill perfectly.

We kept the flow going through the day. The wonderful ceremony in the back room, the group portraits, the bridal party portraits, a few couples portraits, and the reception went off without almost all hitches. The first dance started while I was still setting everything up and was at first tough, but ended well as I worked.

At the reception I tried out the new Profoto D2 with the giant translucent umbrella off to the far side of the DJ and it worked flawlessly. Plugging in a light for the tons of reception photos at 80% power really works well.

Plus Erin and Nick with their bridal party led the way in a party they’ll be talking about for years.

These pictures stood out for me and I’m sharing them all. Originally I wanted to cut them down to 20, but couldn’t go lower than 50.
