Welcome to my What to do in Bend blog posts

March 11, 2023 What to do in Bend

Information for destination wedding couples

I wanted to start a blog post topic to rotate through with the other sections on my quest to do 100 posts in 100 days for couples, friends, and families who might be coming to Bend for a destination wedding.

For starters, and perhaps the single biggest reason why people want to come to Bend for their wedding, and hopefully hire a real Bend wedding photographer, are the mountains just to the west of the city.

Summertime: mid-June to late September. During this time we have mountain biking, hiking, rafting, floating the Deschutes, downhill mountain biking, tons of festivals, water skiing, house boating, and much, much more.

Wintertime from Christmas break to about May 21 is fabulous. I did the picture above on Winter Solstice after the snow dumped for about 30 straight days. It's my favorite Three Sisters picture and would be enormously jealous if someone else had been there instead of me.

A couple years ago I got to shoot a winter wedding at Elk Lake Resort and made some of my personal favorite wedding pictures. The couple were big into snowmobiling and that was the location they wanted to get married. It was a great wedding.

We have skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, snow-biking, dog sledding, inner tubing, sledding, and almost every winter activity you can imagine here during those months. It's a winter wonderland.

I'll be sharing more during the blog rotation about what to do and see here during the year. Until then, get out there and get busy!
