The Comedians Part 2
An Afternoon Shooting Portraits of Creative People in Bend, Oregon
Doing portraits of Morgan Preston (the lead photo) started with a newspaper story (behind a paywall) about him. This lead to me doing portraits of him in Gasoline Alley here in Bend. Then one day he calls me up and says, “Hey, some friends are coming to town, can you do portraits of all of us?” I had so much fun doing portraits of this guy earlier, it was a no brainer doing more of him plus some other crazy comedians.
So we all gathered in downtown Bend and got busy with portraits. They had ideas, I had ideas, we worked together to make the best pictures possible. Working with creative people feeds my soul. It’s so fun to come up with ideas to try and then see if they work. Plus the comedians have an acting side of their personas and love to show it for the camera.
Here’s some of my favorites from the day. It would be fun to work with such people again. Mr. Preston lives in Seattle now and it would take something special for me to drive up there to do more portraits. It’s a long drive. Maybe go do some in Seattle then head over to Olympic National Park and do some backpacking.
