Engagement Portraits of Amy and Steve
A two photo-shoot engagement portrait session at noonish and at sunset
This is another post about an engagement photography session done years ago but never blogged about or posted to any social media. To be totally honest, I don’t do social media barely at all. It’s why I’m a $2,000 wedding photographer and not a $5,000 wedding photographer. So if you’re looking for a wedding photographer, I’m the unkown great deal.
So a long time ago Amy and Steven found me online and hired me to be their engagement and wedding photographer. Them hiring me was a stroke of luck on my part because they’re both creative, wonderful people. A couple years ago I ran into Amy at a Bend Library function and not only did she remember me, but she said they still love their pictures. Which is awesome, even if I do say so myself.
Steven started as a street food vendor and opened Barrio in downtown Bend. Since COVID it’s become Bar Rio and a couple food trucks around Bend. Amy was working in marketing for Brasada Ranch out in Powell Butte. I don’t get out much anymore and haven’t been to Bar Rio, but if they still make paella, then I need to go. The food fills you with the joy of how it gets made.
Amy wanted to do some mid-day portraits someplace industrial in Bend and then sunset portraits at Brasada Ranch. I didn’t have much going on that day and it’s always fun to do pictures, so we got going. The downtown part doesn’t really exist anymore. It’s now part of the parking lot of the big restaurant and shopping center just to the west of the Crux Fermentation Project. It was a good spot for portraits and I didn’t a few portrait sessions in that space. The building had a name like The Bike Shed or something. The other building was something to do with the railroad tracks. The sunset part happened at Brasada Ranch and the day gave us an absolutely spectacular sunset. Sunsets don’t get much better, the light, the color, how long it lasted - I was amazed.
Amy and Steven now have a son, Reuben (named for the delicious sandwich) and I’m hoping are happy and doing well. I would love to run into them again and find out.
